The Gauley River in West Virginia has been rated one of the top ten commercially run rivers in the world. It is truly the best 1 or 2 day rafting trip in the United States. Dropping over 680 feet in 26 miles, it creates more than 120 rapids, 56 of which are rated as Class III or higher.

Scheduled Dam Releases drain Summersville Lake each fall and for 22 days the Gauley comes to life with excitement.

The Upper Gauley River is the essence of big water excitement creating an intense whitewater experience not recommended for the faint of heart or first time rafters. But if untamed adventure is what you're looking for, you'll discover more than 40 rapids in all, 5 of which are rated as solid Class V's. Bring a good dose of courage to keep you going and run it twice in the same day on a Double Upper Trip!

The Middle / Lower Gauley River is made up of long, continuous rapids and powerful hydraulics. Rollercoaster waves rise and fall in great swells of excitement…the kind you won't find in a theme park! With over 70 rapids and breathtaking scenery, the Middle / Lower Gauley is the best choice for an adventurous first time rafter or experienced New River enthusiast alike.

During the summer months the Middle Gauley provides a great opportunity to paddle solo in a duck.
