Guide Training School
Thank you for your interest in becoming a "Rivermen" raft guide. We pride ourselves on having the best training program in the business. Becoming a whitewater raft guide for The Rivermen is a serious undertaking! It may also be one of the most rewarding and life-changing accomplishments you ever complete. We take our Guide Training School and the responsibility of being whitewater raft guide very seriously. The Rivermen train a limited number of new guides each year, therefore candidates for acceptance must posses the following:

  • Genuine appreciation and interest in outdoor recreational activities.
  • Friendly, articulate, well spoken, confident and well groomed.
  • Ability to participate I and enjoy hard work.
  • Good physical health and energy to commit to a challenging program and being the best!
The West Virginia DNR requires that all commercial whitewater guides be 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States.

The Rivermen guide training school is an intense 10 to 11-weekend program. The school is scheduled to begin the second weekend of March. The program is designed to enable a "trainee guide" to complete his/her checkout runs and "top-out". Trainees will be taught and tested on subject including: whitewater hydrology and rapids analysis, industry terminology, boat handling techniques, local history and folklore, customer service, company policies and procedures and River safety an rescue. There will be daily River trips and nightly classroom sessions every weekend. The training days are long and can be intense. Independent study of material may be necessary and is encouraged.

If you feel you possess the qualities and commitment to becoming a Rivermen guide, simply complete the online application no later than March 1st. All applicants must be available March 13 to complete the interview process and their introductory River trip in West Virginia.

Seasonal Employment
Thank you for your interest in joining the Rivermen team. We pride ourselves on offering the best outdoor recreational experiences in the country. The Rivermen is a complete outdoor recreational outfitter that offers a wide variety of services. The Rivermen accepts a limited number of new employees each year; therefore candidates for acceptance must possess the following:
  • Genuine appreciation and interest in the outdoor recreational activities.
  • Friendly, funny, sincere attitude and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to participate in and enjoy hard work.
  • Good physical health and energy to commit to an exciting company.
  • All employees must be a legal resident of the United States or have a current work visa.
We are currently seeking people to fill the jobs listed below:
  • Bus Drivers (must have current CDL and Passenger Endorsement)
  • Campground Maintenance Workers
  • Reservation and check-in clerks
  • Hotel Cleaning Staff
